Democracy only works when the people take responsibility for their government. That goes far beyond voting every 2 years: it means being involved in the legislative process with your representatives and in the implementation of it as well. You can believe that the special interests are involved. Most important is to be informed. Ignorance and apathy are deadlier to democracy than any number of armed foes.
